Q: How many members does Women About currently have?
A: We currently have about 350-400 members.
Q: What is the average age of the Women About membership?
A: Generally, 30's to 50's, although we are always
reaching out to increase our membership
in both number and diversity.
You must, however, be at least 18 years of age to join Women About.
Q: Are many of Women About members single?
A: The majority are single. However, there are a
number of couples who regularly lead and participate
in events. The membership
is diverse in single vs. couple status but, in generally members
are
very friendly and open!
Q: What kind of activities do you have?
A: There is a wide variety of activities and they change as the membership changes.
Q: How do I join?
A: It's easy. Go

Q: How long does it take for my membership application to be processed?
A: Approximately 2-3 weeks. We are an all volunteer
and so processing applications takes a
little longer. You may participate
in one event before you join or while your waiting for your
first calendar
to arrive. After that time, if you have not receive a calendar,
call the main number for more information.
Q: Can I list an event for other organizations? Is there a classified ad section?
A: Sorry, we do not list events for other organizations or accept classified advertisments.
Q: How can I organize my own event?
A: Go to "Participate" page for more detailed information about creating your own event.
Q: How can I quickly get more involved?
A: Come to one of our Business Meetings or volunteer
at one of the quarterly Mailings.
At mailing events members join in helping fold, stuff and seal the new calendar. Afterwards,
we go out to a nearby restaurant to relax and share good company.
Both of these events have dates and times listed on the Schedule page
and are held at the
Lesbian & Gay
Community Services Center in Manhattan.
Q: Can I join while I'm at one of the events?
A: Joining at an event is strictly up to the person
leading the event. You should, however, be prepared
with a completed
application, check, cash or money order.
