Q: How do I join?

A: It's easy. Go to Getting Started to see all the choices on joining up and get involved with Women About Online.
Or download
a copy of the membership application to apply for a calendar via postal mail.

Q: How long does it take for a membership application to be processed?

A: Online applications are the fastest way to join. In just a few short minutes, your membership will be processed and approved.
Applications for quarterly mailed calendars take approximately 2-3 weeks to process.
Be patient, we are an all volunteer operation and processing applications takes time.

You may participate in one event before you join or while your waiting for your first calendar to arrive.
After the one time activity, if you have not receives a calendar, call our main number for further information.

Q: Are many of Women About members are single?

A: The majority of members are single.
However, there are many couples who regularly lead and participate in activities.  Generally, all of our members are a very friendly and open group!

Q: What age group is your organization geared to?

A: Our members are generally between 30 to 50 years old. However, we are always reaching out to increase our membership to include women of all ages. To join Women About you must be at least 18 years of age.

Q: Can I list an event for other organizations? Is there a classified ad section?

A: Sorry, we do not list events of other organizations on our online or mailed calendars. In additional, we do not accept classified advertisments. We also do not allow events that are commercial or self-promoting in nature.

Q: How many members does Women About have?

A: We currently have about 200 - 250 members from all over the tri-state area.

Q: How can I get involved right away?

Registering online is the fastest way to become involved in our organization.  After registration you will be able to instantly access the entire website: from your account page you can upload photos or video; send and recieve messages from other members, or share on the content Wall.
After registering sign up for a paid subscription to see all the calendar events, add your own or Create a Group and access all public groups online.

To further your involvement and lend your voice and talent, come to one of our Business Meetings held on the first Wednesday of the month. There we discuss, the future direction of Women About and upcoming events. 
Meetings are held at the Lesbian & Gay Community Services Center in Manhattan. After the meetings, we share a meal at a nearby restaurant to relax and share good company.

Q: How can I organize my own event?

A: Go to "Getting Started" page for detailed information about adding your activity online or to the mailed calendar.
Organizing an event is as easy as sharing an activity that you enjoy with other members. By getting a subscription to the online calendar you can easily add your activity to the calendar at anytime. Then, just sit back and wait for a member(s) to contact you.
